card grading.
I have a pretty large card collection. But have never really had time to put a value on it. I have never had any graded. I would appreciate it soo much if someone could take the time to explain the advantages and disadvantages of having my more valuable cards graded. I was planning on having a few hundred of my more valuable cards all graded but wanted to get some feedback on it.
And if bgs is the recommended service I should be using.
i look forward to hopefully hearing back some helpful information.

Really the only advantages are they would be protected in the grading cases and they would bring more money if you were to sell them. But you would only make them more valuable depending on what they would grade minus whatever it costs to have them graded. The biggest bump in value comes from getting rookies and vintage cards graded. Most game used or autographs won't see a noticeable bump unless they grade a 10.

So grading my autographs really isn't necessary? I should pretty much just get all my vintage cards graded?

Correct if you want to resell them. If you get a 10 on a Michael Jordan autograph it will increase the value of it and autograph rookies like Bowman Chrome in baseball but an autograph of of Robinson Cano from 2007 isn't going to get much of a boost in resale value on eBay by having it graded.

Very interesting. I have no intention of selling most of my better cards, so I guess grading them isn't a neccessety. I didn't really realize it only effected sale value.
would you agree that if I plan on just displaying my more expensive cards then there's no reason to grade them?
i have Brady rc auto. Unitas auto. Mantle auto... But just leave them ungraded because I'm not selling.

For a cheaper than grading fee you can have the cards encased so they will be protected. That might be a better option if you are going to be keeping them since it would be cheaper and then they would be protected. I would recommend Beckett (BGS) since they make a much better case than the other companies if you go that route.
