    Remembering Sergei Zholtok

Game 7 - April 22, 2003, Sergei Zholtok steals the puck and streaks through the neutral zone at the Pepsi Center as two Avalanche defenders are pinching in on him. As he crosses into the Av's zone he drops the puck to Andrew Brunette and then, well you know the rest...

A great moment in Minnesota Wild history courtesy of, by all accounts, a wonderful person. Rest in peace Sergei!

He's was one of the nicest skaters that ever played over here, and wonderful soft hands. Just born with a bad heart. Poor guy knew that he was not going to live long without a transplant, and not long after he got the news that he probably needed a new heart, he had the Big One, and passed-on.

One of my favorite, overlooked players from White Russia.

Was so sad to hear the passing of Zholtok all those years ago. I always wondered the "what if", if that had happened here in North America instead of Croatia? I think it was. Much better medicine in North America, I'd imagine. I guess it was just his time. It's just another bad memory of that year long lockout that accomplished nothing.

It was fun watching that clip from the '03 playoffs. Very bittersweet. Watching my hometown team win there first ever playoff series against my favorite player growing up(Roy.) If no one remembers, that clip is the last .15 seconds of Patrick Roy's career. I was at game 6 the night before and saw his last ever road loss. It's a nice little feather in Zholtok's cap, that he assisted on the last goal Roy ever gave up.

I have season tickets for the Wild and this year, at every game, they put up a picture on the scoreboard showing Zholtok, Demitra, and Boogaard. The 3 Wild players that have died(all tragic endings.) Every time I see it, I think to myself, Thanks for the memories boys...

thanks for sharing as I did not remember all three playing on the same line. Nice of the Wild to pay tribute each game!
