Topps Prime has been around for a couple of years now. It contains a base set comprising of 100 veterans and 50 rookies. Cards should generally fall around four veterans to every one rookie in a box. The design is similar in nature to previous installments of Prime.

In hobby boxes, veterans only have one parallel. It is an unnumbered gold and comes on a thicker card stock. On the other hand, rookies are featured on five numbered parallels numbered 350 or less. The card stock is thicker than the regular rookies, but not as thick as the veterans parallel.

There are three insert sets that center around the "Prime" brand name theme. Prime Performance and Primed Rookies contains 25 cards apiece. Performance highlights second-year players with an event that was big for themselves or the team during their rookie year. Rookies is all about the new blood that are ready to become a household name. Primetimers is a 75-card set featuring veterans and their exploits on the grand stage. Performance/Rookies will fall one each per box with Primetimers appearing twice.

Topps Prime contains 2 relics, 1 autograph and 1 autograph/relic in every box. The main draw is the auto/relic as there are five "Prime" levels which feature various types of relics. Levels 1-3 are book-style cards. Level 4 has a jumbo patch and Level 5 contains four relics. In addition, Level 5 has a mix of rookies and veterans with the rookies having five parallel versions. Veterans and rookies also combine to make the base auto set. Both have parallel versions, though the veterans get the rarer treatment with a far less quantity of signatures.

Individual rookies appear on relic cards that can contain up to four swatches. There are single, dual and quad relic cards for 40 rookies. Dual Combos feature two rookies (20 cards) with a swatch of each player. Quad Combos matchup four rookies (10 cards) with a swatch for each one. All have parallel versions. Every card is serial numbered.
