    Smile 13-14 Series 1

    Hey guys,

Like many of you, I've had some great luck with Series 1 so far. However....I have a question.

Do you guys see the price going up during this season? I bought mine for 74 dollars from my hobby store and a private dealer that I know is selling it for 85 currently. The hobby store would not disclose anything, but the dealer told me that his prices will be going up on his next order with the wholesaler. He also told me that this box could turn out like the 05-06 Series 1 box and could be worth more than around 200+ (Sealed) by the end of the season. Is anybody holding onto a box to see what it would be worth at the end of the year?

Lemme know what you guys think about all this!

    Thanks guys!

At the Expo last weekend, you saw most dealers selling their boxes for $85. If your LCS is still selling them at $75, that's a pretty good price. No doubt the wholesalers have already marked things up, and the end price will go up accordingly.

$200 by the end of the season? I can't imagine it. There simply isn't enough value in those boxes to justify it. Of course, $200 for a box of 05-06 is also crazy - so who knows?

Mackinon is the top selling rookie right now, and he's going for (about) the price of a box.

Upper Deck has announced that they are completely sold out of UD1, so the pricing will be in the hands of the middle men controlling the product. You can expect to see price increases, but nothing like in 05/06 when Crosby dominated the market. I could see the price of a box normalizing at 100.

    Thanks for the reply RanfordFan!

Yes, 74.99 is a great price for a box of series 1. I didn't get a chance to go to the expo, but the guy that works the sportscard counter at my LCS told me they were selling it cheaper than dealers and even online. If all these rookies have decent seasons (Which they probably will), I could see it at about 150 by the end of the year...maybe

Thanks for the help Joecoolio! It's good to hear from an actual dealer on this topic. $100 seems like a good price point by the end of November.

Upper Deck has announced that they are completely sold out of UD1.

Could you link to a source? That's pretty interesting. If true, wouldn't that be an anomaly for them to be sold out in just a few weeks of releasing the product?

I should have bought more when I had the chance at $60 a box (good friend of the LCS owner plus US prices). He went up to $69 but still charged me $65. I have a feeling he'll go up to $75 a box shortly. He stated as well that UDS1 is sold out. I think UD had it on their fb page or blog at one point. Time to stock up soon and sit on some boxes.

It's on their Facebook page somewhere.

UD doesn't usually announce that sort of thing, so we don't really know just how well a lot of their products are doing. With this particular product, there was so much hype and demand going into it that I can't say I'm at all surprised that it's sold out. Heck, even I opened two boxes and I rarely bust wax. And I had fun with it. LOL

With McKinnon's running like 1-2 per case I am sure UD knew what they were doing with this year being a double class and all.
1 case in and 1 McKinnon, which is a total shame

Bought three boxes and pretty happy with the pull I got. Mckinnon, got also combo of Huberdeau and Hamilton YG and canvas, got a Monahan yg and a header heroes and other good cards. So the product seem to do well at least from my box break value wise since there are many YG not selling top but in the middle range. I will most certainly by some more.
