Reds Fest 2013
As I wrote in the Meet & Greet section, I recently relocated from Orange County to Cincinnati. Does anyone have any autograph experience at Reds Fest? Is this a good way to get autographs?
To me, it appears that there are two major unknowns. First, the official Reds site is selling tickets to Reds Fest yet seems to be offering limited information about who will be attending in 2013. Second, if I was to attend, I'm confused by how autograph opportunities are allotted to visitors.
It seems like there is a Reds contingent on these boards so I thought I would ask!

I have never went down to the event, but understand that they do have some good names. The problem is that it is a very popular event and I have heard that the biggest name guys have huge lines and that you sometimes have issues getting through the lines. They do a Reds caravan every spring and I have heard that is a good autograph shot. They usually are sending only a few Reds players on those events, but usually one on each stop is a all star caliber player along with a prospect. Keep your eyes open for that event. I also know that you must be requesting opening day off now, if it is your first year in Cincy. You will love the parade and festivities for opening day in that city as no one makes as big of a deal of opening day that the Reds do!

If I were you, I would at least enter the contest for the auto ticket. If you win that go for sure, if not wait it out and see what people say.
There is a decent chance that I will not be able to go, so if I win, I will probably give away my autograph ticket thing.

Thanks for the tip. After the previous reply from IndyReds, I decided to investigate more and I entered the contest. I am leaning towards attending now, regardless of the contest outcome. I looked up the location of the convention center and I can walk there. I'm still getting my bearings downtown. I wish there were some HOF players attending so that I could add to my project (blog link below). Until I moved to Cincy, I didn't quite realize or appreciate how many living Reds players are in the Hall of Fame.

Joe Morgan was at the Louisville stop on the Caravan. I'm a big STL fan but you can't pass up the chance to meet a HOF member even if you were not a fan of their broadcasting career. Suffice it to say, Morgan was posing for photos only. I later sent an index card and had him sign it. I may eventually have the photo made into an 8x10 and have it signed and inscribed with his HOF year.
