Grading company thoughts....

I have no idea why it is so small, but crossing it over to SGC soon. Not a fan of that open area, plastic sleeve idea.

As for SGC, fantastic grading company, probably the most popular for pre-war. Only thing I dislike about them is the lax on centering as compared to PSA. I do dislike PSA's "eye appeal" argument on many instances as I don't think it trule reflects the collectors opinion in many instances.

The only setback I see for SGC is their marketing. BGS uses their publication to boost their product (grade and price which is a conflict of interest) and PSA has history which is backed by dealers.

I have a lot of things that turns me away from PSA. A habit of overgrading. The collector club thing. And the many mistakes they make on mislabels and altered cards. Here is one of the examples:

Altered Marino (hand numbered by someone other than UD). Hand numbered 13/13 which 13 is Marino's jersey number:

Now it doesn't take an expert to see those are altered as the gold foil versions were not numbered at all. The numbered versions had silver foil as shown in this scan:

Now, I know grading companies make mistakes, but you don't need expertises to catch that one.
