I'm a complete idiot vis a vis technology, I'm sure there's an easier way BUT............

I open my pics with Picture Manager after I've scanned them and then I re-size them, then I send them off to Photobucket. Time-consuming? YESSIR!!!!

I would use photobucket for your pic's. This will allow you yo use links for images in show and tell or links for cards you wishing yo sell. The images when they show up tend to be small and most folks will want a better scan of the card to see flaws. Just my opinion.

There are many ways depending all what you have. You can try setting the quality lower, that will give you a smaller file size to begin with. In Win7 if you open the file with Windows Live Photo Gallery and click edit and change the image size, although that will change the physical size of the image (ex. 2"x3") not the file size (ex. 1646kb's). XP may be the same, don't remember that far back. I like to use photobucket because then you can't exceed size limits since the pic isn't technically on SCF. It's also a great way to organize your inventory. You can PM me if you want further help

    Here's what I do...

Scan images at 300 ppi - i.e. a standard 2.5 x 3.5 card is 750 x 1050 pixels. I scan a larger area than the card then use a JpegCrops program downloaded from the web to nicely crop the image.

Next I use another free program Fotosizr which lets you preset the size (I scale down to 50% of the pixels for posting online) and also set the jpeg compression ratio so that the images take a lot less disk space too. You just load all the images in and click start, and boom, everythin is resized in seconds.

I use GIMP to resize and crop images. It is basically a free version of Photoshop. It might not be what you want if you aren't that advanced in computer skill but it isn't that difficult to use. It is just a bit overwhelming to learn at first since there is so much stuff you can do and use. My advice would be to watch a Youtube how to video if you go that route since that would have been beneficial to have when it came out.

another good free program to batch resize images is PhotoRazor. I use it when a have to batch photos for clients. Quicker than using the actions in PS.

I scan in 600 DPI then open the pics in MS Paint and resize them to 25%, save and then upload to photo bucket.

Gives a nice sized pic for singles or gang scans:
