I was watching a Trevor Kidd 01-02 btp stick and jersey. Last I checked it was at a $1.26 I wasn't able to bid but wouldn't of made a difference anyway since it ended at $76.00!!!! Ummm what gives?

Possibly it's 10+ years old and limited to 50 copies to begin with and maybe two guys REALLLLLYYYY wanted it?

I sold a 02/03 Topps parallel OPC Red of a no-name Flames player once for $46. People are crazy.

If it is a SP or limited to a small amount you could have 2 people really wanting it as it hasn't shown up in a long time or you could always have a case of somebody setting a high bid and then somebody setting a high snipe and boom. They both go to a crazy amount that nobody thought was possible.

It really does not surprise me that much. The set is 12 years old. Even though it is /50 it is a lot more scarce than a card /10 that got released within the last year or two. That plus goalies have big collectors. That plus a guy like Trevor Kidd does not have that many cards out. Thus if you decieded right now to PC him it would not be a very expensive ongoing process like if you PC'd some new rookie. That BTP stick/jersey was most likely one of his best cards and some people just went nuts over it.

Hey, I paid $20+ for the Roy/Racicot Cup Tandems card from BTP a couple years back. Paid that specifically for Racicot. AFAIK it's his only memorabilia card.

It happens a lot whenever I try to go after some of my Palffy, and Stumpel stuff. If anything I want is from the late 1990's to early 2000's, and is a limited parallel that likely a set collector is hunting down. With those two players I would think would be a shoe in for me to snag real cheap(Jagr is out of the question here because it's a given it will go high) because I only know of one other Stumpel collector, and there are only a handful of Palffy collectors. It's the set collectors that run it up big time since they are more than likely trying to complete their sets, and the cards of the guys I collect don't get listed too often becuse their name isn't Lemieux, Gretzky, Roy, Crosby, Ovechkin.... etc, and when they do get put up, it's like it's the only copy of the cards ever printed, then BOOM! $$$$.

I often think sometimes set collectors have a little more passion in these circumstances.....

Many ITG cards from early 00's sells very well no matter who is on the card.
One BTP Emblem /20 card with Hedberg was sold at +$150 at last year, while his Complete Packages sells
+$100-$175 easily while many of his single or dual memorabilia cards with rare pieces from his blocker/glove etc sells very well at $50-$85 for mostly....

Those're crazy prices for sure but it shows how popular those NHL-licensed ITG cards are!

I've been collecting Kidd for about 5 years now and that's the first time I've seen one. Had the sniper set for about $35 and thought I was gonna get it. Wrong.
