    Player lots vs Set-Builder lots

Any thoughts on which is the more efficient way to move cards?

    1) Player lots: A multi-card lot of a single player

    2) Set-builder lots: Cards of various players all from the same set, parallel set or insert set (1.e. - lot of UD canvas, lot of Ultra Gold Medallion, etc...)

I think they'd be equally efficient depending on the players & sets involved. There's always a market for everyone and everything out there, so based on what you've got available, either way works fine. I should do this with some of my older Black Diamond sets.

Good luck trying to move Scott Gomez stuff though. I put up a lot of 12-15 cards for 10 bucks and not even a sniff. LOL

Personally, and lord knows I'm wrong about almost everything, but I think there are more player collectors than set builders out there.

No I'm pretty sure you are correct on this. The only thing would be that if the player wasn't popular then I'd say there would be more set collectors than a player collector of that person.

    Player Lots.

Sets, simply do not sell. They sold OK on eBay from about 1998-2001, since then? Meh.

You will get action on UD Sets with Young Guns, but be prepared to take a slight shower on the price.

I personally prefer the set lots, but pretty sure I am in the minority on that one.

Sets are taking a bath because of US Shipping Rates, they are ghastly domestically, and off the chain to Europe and Canada. I also understand that Canada Post is about to enter the fray in March with new rates that will rival the US ones. When that happens you can say good-bye to all card shipments over say 10 cards anywhere International from any North American destination.

From what I have sen on the board there are a lot more player collectors than set collectors, so player lots are probably better. One alternative that might be useful if you don't have enough cards of a given player is to try team lots. I am a team set collector (New York Rangers), and I know there are not as many of us out there as player collectors, but this is another option to consider.

I removed all Gomez single cards off my want list, that how much I like the guy LOL

But as far as lots this can work in both but lots always depend what cards are in the lot. So given this you can't say really.
