What's a decent price to pay for a game-used MLB Jersey, Please?
I found a jersey online of a 2013 Houston Astros Player. In fact he is one of my favorite players. I'm giving serious consideration into buying it. It is being offered for $350.00. I feel that is a little too steep, given there are visible signs of use on it. What do you feel would be a good price for it? Would $225 be good? I was planning on mounting it, and adding it to my collection. Will it appreciate in value over the years, or will I lose my investment? Thank You.

That' a hard question to answer as there are many variables. The condition of the jersey, if the authenticity is reputable, the "star power" of the player. I have picked up a GU jersey of Matt Stairs for $100 at the Cubs Convention. Not a big star by any means, but a solid veteran player with a decent career. If the player is a promising youngster or a "bigger" name, it will command more of a premium.
It also depends on who is selling the jersey. Remember most online businesses are trying to make a profit, so there will be markup on whatever you are wanting to purchase.
But, I think you answer you're own question. You feel it's too steep... and as far as it appreciating in value, again that's a whole other set of variables.

The only issue I can see really is that you are trying to reduce price because "it shows pretty good signs of game use"...That's a GOOD thing, as far as proving it's game used. I'd be willing to pay MORE for a jersey if it had a "slid into 2nd" stain on the chest lol...but personally that's just me.
I think you've answered your own question though my man. You clearly feel the price is to steep. But ask yourself this, do you feel like you could get it cheaper elsewhere? Can you live without it?
whenever I make a high end purchase ($150+) I always ask myself, will it go up or down in value and will I be disappointed until I buy it if I pass now?? You don't wanna regret passing on a great chance over a few bucks. Example: I could have bought a game used Michael Wacha Game Used and autographed Springfield Cardinals jersey, psa auth., for $125. I passed. I regret it now without a doubt. But my traine of thought was "well he's unproven. He could get to the show and flame out" STUPID!
