The more I looked into Christianity, that was the impression I came up with constantly. For example, the bible verse that says “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God, but woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation." Doesn't that sound like they are encouraging people to not become rich since the rich are cursed? That a few elite people actually wanted to discourage others from trying to become rich and they tried to make it appear as though being rich was actually a curse and being poor was a blessing? That's what it felt like to me. And it wasn't just that. The bible always seemed hard to truly believe without any doubt.
