coolbly16 IP Success Thread
Hey everyone, I figured it was time to start one of these. My goal for this year is to do more in-person stuff. Since I am in Washington DC, its a great place to do it. I figured I could show off my stuff here since I think my girlfriend is already sick of hearing me yak about it.
Start with an older one I havent posted yet. Dodgers Manager and Former Yankee Don Mattingly did a ball for me when the Dodgers visted the Nats last summer. Nice guy and the ball looks good too. Intended to get Puig but Mattingly is a heck of a consolation prize in my book.

This past weekend I did the Golden State Warriors at their Hotel
Start with Coach Jackson on "The City" logo. Was originally going to try and make this a team piece but I think Jackson's sig looks nice.

Andrew Bogut....not the best, but it was just a base card I had laying around so why not get it "signed"..

Harrison Barnes in Silver on an 8x10. I think it looks great.

This Steph Curry 8x10 in silver didnt turn out....you can hardly see it...sigh

Draymond Green, one of my favorite college athletes of all time

David Lee, Nicest guy ever. Chatted with us and signed one for everyone. Should have asked to get a pic with him

I had heard Andre Iguodala doesnt sign but he came and did one for everyone, looks great too

Finally, the Jewel of the weekend- Both of the Splash brothers on a 5x7. I am framing this and putting it on my wall at work

Sorry if the pics are a bit small, I take photos, not scans. But I cleaned house pretty good last weekend.

Hey, welcome to the world of IP posting. I have a pretty lengthy IP and TTM success thread here, https://www.sportscardforum.com/threa...-help-welcome!, that has really taken off over the years. You're certainly off to a good start to go down that path as well. The best thing you can do if you really want to take your collection to the next level is graph hotels, and you're already there. Good work.
I'm sure you know this already, but in case you don't (regarding the mattingly ball), NEVER use those china balls for an auto that you intend to keep and treasure over time. They fade and smudge over time. That is why people buy them for cheap and sell them for cheap on ebay quickly to poor idiots that don't know the difference.
They are expensive, but ROMLBs are the only way to go. You can get them for 12-13 dollars each if you really work at finding deals, which isn't so bad. If you can't afford them, then I'd stick to photos (1-2 bucks each to print).
Again, welcome, good start! I know exactly what you mean about posting because you run out of people to show off your successes to. This hobby makes you really addicted to other people posting and commenting. I have been fortunate in that regard. Take care of your readers with good stories and graphs and they will take care of you.

The Mark Jackson photo is a really cool one. I think he's a great coach.
What silver did you use for the Curry that didn't turn out well?

Yea, I will probably stay away from balls for now, that is one I had laying around. $12+ is too rich for my blood. Do you know any place where printing photos is cheap? my CVS is $3.99 for an 8x10 and $1.69 for a 5x7. Its great because it is right by my office to pick up, but $4 for an 8x10 is drying me out. I heard Costco is really cheap but I dont have a membership/one close to me.

It was a silver sharpie, I know they can be really hit or miss but I think he just didnt press hard enough because the Mark Jackson and Barnes ones were done with the same pen a look really good. I would like to get a silver brush pen that you shake but I havent been about to get to an art supply store yet.

It varies by stores, but staples has been printing my photos for 2 years now for 1.25 per page, no questions asked about copyrights.
However, you need to have a paper cutter at home to cut the edges off- it's glossy photo paper and a photo, but it has the white borders on the sides that have to be cut off. So for a little extra work and aggravation you save lots of money.
Also, silvers have a mind of their own. I've had perfectly good silver decos go stupid for no reason and ruin autos. I've had silver sharpies go stupid. I've had decos freeze and turn invisible right as DWYANE WADE signs for me. It sucks. Anymore I stick to blue whenever I can. Might not be as "cool" but you won't have a ruined graph either 999 times out of 1000.

If you're not going to spend the money for an OMLB, stay away from balls for sure. It's never worth it to save a few bucks and use an OLB or China ball.
As we like to say: "Friends don't let friends get OLBs signed".

The silver infinity marker at Target (comes in a pack of 8) hasn't messed up on me yet. Just keep them stored tip down and out of the sun.

I use Sam's club and it is cheap like 1.13 for an 8x10, 3 for a 11x14, and 6 for a 16x20 it works great for me and the pics come out awesome but you need a membership like Costco
