Shipping higher end cards
I'm in the process of trading a higher end card, and I'm just wondering if you guys do anything extra to make sure your high end stuff gets to the other trader safe. The cards currently in a magnetic one touch holder, are those ok to ship in or should I swap it into a toploader? Is tracking a good idea? or insurance? The card books for slightly over 100, but represents a pretty significant part of my pc, it would be a pretty big blow if anything happened to it. I'm worried about plastering the actual value all over the package, as I feel like that increases the chances it'll go missing. Trades within Canada if that helps.

I have sent and received cards that are worth about that through regular mail. It's only ever happened once that a package got lost and it was coming from the US.
I never mail cards in a one-touch, though, because they're very thick and heavy. I always use a penny sleeve, a top loader, decoys if necessary and graded card case size team bag.
However, if the card is that important to you, I would put in the extra investment and at the very least get some tracking on the package. As for insurance, the amount won't show on the package. I'm not even sure it would show that you bought extra coverage at say a scanning station as that info is irrelevant as far as delivery goes IMO.

You can send it out fine in the one touch but put a larger-sized team bag (or two regular ones top & bottom) over it for that added protection. And get tracking if you want to ensure safe delivery. If they lose it you're covered up to $100 automatically with XpressPost.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

If a cards book under $200 I send it like any other cards. Mainly penny sleeve, top loader and decoy. I never pay extra. I realize a long time ago that if I pay 15$ for all these trade worth a bit more then in the end after a few month of trading I would have spent a good 200$. So I insure myself by not spending a lot on tracking. Then if I get a lost I can pull the money out that I would have spent and actually saved not sending with tracking and insurance.
If it was ebay, I think it's a other ball game but with member here, it's different. I think I choose maybe 4 time to use tracking with members because I was not sure or the member was a bit to new so I wanted to cover my back. But unless I have a bad feeling on the member I won't use tracking or insurance. If it's over $200 then I really look with who I am trading and if I trust this member 100% or not or if the member request it to deicide what I do. Over $400 I always use tracking and signature.
I also think that using a touch case, due to the weight and feel is probably the wrong way to send a card because it will give a clue on the card value and maybe raise the chance someone would want to steel it. Just too obvious what is in the envelope. This is why the top-loader and decoy is how I send them.
I never had one issue, so I did save a lot more then $200 in shipping and it's really much better when you have the money to insure yourself this way as it's a lot cheaper. But on EBay it could be a other thing and not sure I would not use more tracking.
