Discolored Card Received: What to Do?
I received both of these cards along with one other today. The Thorburn looks great but the Suter as you can see is pretty badly discolored. Corners, surface, edges all fine but badly discolored in my opinion. The Suter is valued at $25 and I was planning on sending it along to another trader but I do not want to disappoint him with a card that will clearly stand out from it's set counterparts. How would you handle this?
Always good to hear from other traders about these kinds of issues.

That card looks like it's been placed near heat, not direct sun, as that would have faded it, but someplace very warm to discolour it.

Good point. I can't pass this card on to another trader, should I ask to exchange it?

If bought through eBay, then e-mail the seller and request a refund. You may have to show Return Tracking, which is cheap here in the USA, but very costly to Canada if the seller is from there, and I think that eBay requires that on all returns before issuing a refund via Paypal.
Perhaps the seller will refund it outright without having to return it. I don't know, you'd have to e-mail them and find out.
I would never sell a card in that condition, but I always refund the card and the buyer's shipping, so that they don't have to pay again.

I can't comment on how other site handle issue but no matter where this happen, the first thing to do is to contact the person and present the issue with a scan and explanation and that you are not satisfied as the card is not following the standard of near-mint mint that the hobby carry. Then if nothing move ask a mod on the other site but you always need to contact the person as many will work the issue with you.

I suppose you can just open a case against the trader if they refuse to accept a return. I don't know the site where you traded it, or it's rules. Here on SCF, it is incumbent upon the trader with the bad card to make things right for a person like you.

Did you have a scan of the card before you traded for it? Maybe its from the light you have shining on it (J/K I know it is a photo flash). Either way, the other traded should have said something.
