Post Nets to sign Jason Collins

    http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/stor...-brooklyn-nets

Jason Collins became the first openly gay athlete in North America's four major professional sports Sunday, signing a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets.

He is expected to play against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday evening at Staples Center, sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.

"The decision to sign Jason was a basketball decision," Nets general manager Billy King said in a statement. " We needed to increase our depth inside, and with his experience and size, we felt he was the right choice for a 10-day contract."

Not sure why the Nets got rid of Reggie Evans. He could provide the same production I think. Was he causing problems? I'm happy to see Collins get another chance. He's a low risk signing anyway and it's just for ten days.

As said above, I think this was more PR move. Beat the NFL draft. Collins is a great guy but as a player he's a career 4p/4r guy. Last few years have not been impressive at all considering the talent waiting to come in.
