U.S. Hockey Player Rescues Stray Pups from Sochi
It’s tough to be a stray dog – period.
But if the reports out of Russia are true, it’s especially tough to be a stray dog in the Olympic city of Sochi.
U.S. Olympic hockey player David Backes heard the stories, just like everyone else – stories about hundreds of dogs being captured and killed during the days leading up to this year’s Winter Games.
And it bothered him and his wife, Kelly — a lot.
“We feel that every dog should have a great home,” said Backes, who plays for the Saint Louis Blues in the National Hockey League, in an interview with Saint Louis TV station KTVI.
