    Question Regarding 13-14 & 14-15 Rookies

Does anybody know the cut off date for rookies to be included in a years product? I.e. what was, or will be, the date that rookies are allowed to be pushed to 14-15 products?

Recently Brandon Gormley was recalled from Portland and I fully Phoenix intends to finally play him this time and I'm worried he'll fall under the category of the 13-14 rookie crop, miss out on a ton of products including a young gun, and a player I've been planning on super collecting will be left with about three rookie cards despite being a pretty solid prospect.

If anybody can confirm a date where rookies can be pushed to the 14-15 products I'd greatly appreciate the info :)

My guess is the date was during the Olympics or maybe a week or two before that. At this point I think it's pretty safe to say that the deadline has passed.

I think the deadline is the "all star break" so Olympic break is likely the case this year. You'll have to wait for next season to get Gormley, I suspect.

The deadline has definitely passed - they usually set it at the end of January. With most sets either released or deep into pre-production (especially the likes of SP Authentic, Contenders, Cup, NT that all require hard-signed content) there's just no practical way to keep adding new guys beyond a relatively early date.

At this stage, what we've seen up to now is essentially what we'll be getting for this year.

Next year is already shaping up to be pretty good, particularly if Drouin make the Lightning out of camp.

Thanks for the info guys. I thought maybe it was the trade deadline, but I couldn't remember from previous collecting years so I thought maybe someone knew a yearly deadline, but if its an estimated "All-Star week" that's good enough for me.

Just for the record I'm glad the deadline has passed and I'll have to wait for Gormley because with the whole double rookie class I find many rookies are being passed over in products due to such large numbers (i.e. 95 rookie silhouettes and still some missing). I still think there will be many top prospects come 14-15, so regardless of UD exclusivity it's still an exciting time to be a part of the hobby!
