Canada Post Rate Increases Almost Here, April 1.

Just a reminder to everyone that Canada Post is quickly following the trends of the USPS and increasing prices. Cost for a standard bubble mailer up to 100G to the USA will be going from $2.20 to $2.95. The cost to ship within Canada from $1.34 to $1.80 same size.

Most definitely not as bad as the USPS increases, but nonetheless still not good for the hobby. Also, those who think it's absolutely ridiculous to ship in bubble mailers and praise PWE as just as good of a method? Well those are going up as well.

Buggers. Like you said, at least it's not the gross scale of increase that the US saw last year.

So many good deals have fallen by the wayside because of that. Nothing worse than seeing "holy smoke a $12 Gallagher YG....oh, but $8 s/h" type moment happen.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Most of my sale, through USPS are paid by the buyer. But when I go to pay and I see the total I am in shock. Shipping very light items such as cards should not cost this much.

OK, bear in mind that this ONLY applies to a bubble mailer that's thrown in a mailbox sans customs form. If you go to the PO to mail it out it will cost more, I have no idea how much til April 1 I guess

    "00" Sized Bubble Envelope

    1. One Card - One Top Loader - $2.95 + 36 cents PST/GST = $3.31
    2. Two Cards - One Top-Loader - $2.95 + 36 cents PST/GST = $3.31
    3 Three Cards - One Top Loader - $2.95 + 36 cents PST/GST = $3.31
    4. Four Cards - One Top Loader - $2.95 + 36 cents PST/GST = $3.31

Ok, now it gets trickier. Do the two top-loaders increase the weight past 100 grams? If yes then..............

    5. Two Cards - Two Top Loaders - $5.15 + 62 cents PST/GST = $5.77
    6. Three Cards - Two Top-Loaders - $5.15 + 62 cents PST/GST = $5.77
    7. Four Cards - Two Top-Loaders - $5.15 + 62 cents PST/GST = $5.77
    8. Fiver Cards - Two Top-Loaders - $5.15 + 62 cents PST/GST = $5.77

If not, and 5 cards in 2 top loaders is still under 100 grams then the $3.31 still applies.

Again, this is without a customs form, and in B.C. Other provinces have different provincial sales tax rates.

    Wheeeeeeeeeee!!!

There is a grace period. I made a couple trades here last week-end that I was hoping to get out by Monday the 31st but they were late in accepting the trade so I couldn't mail them until the 1st. Sending them to Europe too, thats why I was trying to rush the trades and use up my stamps. I put the old amount of stamps on it and sent it anyways. They haven't come back to me. There was a grace period of let's say... the rest of the business week last price increase as well.

Not everyone knows about the price increase so that's why there is a grace period. Also the permanent stamps are still permanent and can still be used.

I still have a bunch of $1.34 stamps now I have to go to the post office for the extra $0.46 until they're gone!

Petro1717, I don't believe it costs quite that much for registered mail. I've had Registered Mail cost more shipping from Ontario to BC than from Ontario to South Carolina. You should also get a Venture One card, you don't need an actual business, just make one up. It saves you a little bit on shipping registered or any other way except for on actual stamps.
