Panini America Announces Industry’s First Consumer Rewards Program at Summit
Every other category has them, so isn’t it about time that the card collecting community has its own rewards program, too? Today, Panini America, the world’s largest sports and entertainment collectibles company, announced just that. During the company’s annual corporate address at the 2014 Industry Summit in Las Vegas, Panini America CEO Mark Warsop offered the first glimpses of the Panini Rewards Program, the result of a research and development program the company began nearly two years ago.
As Panini America officials began to develop the Panini Rewards Platform, they focused their efforts on developing a system designed to deliver more value to collectors by giving them the ability to choose replacements and other items through an established point value system tied to Panini Rewards. The Panini Rewards Platform will give collectors the ability to earn points by scanning randomly inserted Rewards cards with their mobile devices in all Panini America products.

When I read what they intend to implement that's exactly what I was thinking. Now you know why they didn't want you there!

You also had the box top redemption which I was sad to see go the route of the dodo bird. Picked up some lovely cards via that program..

I'll just C&P what I posted elsewhere...
I don't see the point of this yet. Unless and until they announce what kind of cards you can get for how many points, and what cards are in the inventory...it's just exchanging lottery points, really.
And here's the thing - say that your 200 points gets you the run of any card currently in the existing redemption stock they have. Now, instead of getting that middle-of-the-road player you needed for your Private Signings yet, you're just going to grab whatever high-end player autograph you can "afford" with your points.
ITG does a very limited redemption thing, with their HSHS points. And they do it fairly. You submit your points, you get a random card. If it were "first come, first served" based off the checklist, you'd see all 20 Plante, Roy, Price, etc. cards redeemed and a big pile of Mike Smith, Steve Mason, and Ben Bishop cards because everybody would go for the big value cards first.
So this works well for Panini if they feel the need to pump out their top cards that have been collecting dust in redemption bins, but it's going to mean a lot of low-tier players sitting around because given the choice, nobody's going to choose them.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...
