I won't use injury as this year's excuse. I will however point out the weakness that Ken Holland has for keeping $1.00 players.

Newsflash Ken ……. The Two One Dollar Players that every coach is entitled to in a 30 year career, have been used up. Draper and Maltby are retired. You fooled yourself in getting a half a season out of Cleary, another bonus season out of the Eaves and Miller, but C'mon. You don't have a clue.

Babcock. The only thing you did right in coaching in the last 5 years came 3 weeks ago, where you threw a dart at a dart board and it said play strong Defensive Hockey with Team Canada. It worked.

Why have the Red Wings fallen from #1 in Defense when Scotty Bowman had them, to 16th under you this year and as low as 23rd in previous years.?

This team is hard to watch without getting angry.

As a non-Wings fan, I can give permission to use the injury card on this year's team. The injury bug has definitely contributed to the Wings' poor season this year. HOWEVER, I have my doubts about the depth the Wings have these days anyhow, and the ages of their key players, and their goaltending, and I think, everyone is still enamored with the Wings teams of the recent past and this has pulled the blinders down over their eyes, now unable to see the team for its current mediocrity. They aren't a contender, they're scraping by just to be in the playoff hunt, and I think it has become apparent that when you lose a Nicklas Lidstrom, there is no replacing a HOFer like that from your lineup. Detroit is the Canucks lite of the Eastern Conference. I can't make a wager because I am so certain that what Tim is saying (Detroit will not make the playoffs) is definitively true.

Howard hasn't been stellar....plus the loss of Lidstrom and that must combine for 1 more GAA per game....Maybe they will sign Kesler this summer....or pray Tatar turns into Datz and Nyquist into Zetty....
