Extremely unreasonable. Canada Post is a dog and pony show to begin with.

Sometimes I can send a card to Toronto in a PWE. Sometimes it will arrive on day 6. Now when I send a PWE to Alberta, it is taking 15-17 days. I live 2,200 miles closer to Alberta than I do to Toronto. I also do not use a Customs Form, so that it isn't tied up an additional 8 days.

My concern is much more with shipping time than delivery time, as the seller/trader has no control over the operations of our respective postal services.

I usually don't pay attention to length of time. However, if I notice that something has been taking about 2 weeks or so to arrive, I may start poking around asking after a send date, possible tracking number, etc.

But, I'd say anything longer than 7-10 days warrants questions about a ship date, etc, but not earlier.

I start getting a little annoyed at the 2 week mark if it is in-province. like right now, where I have been waiting 18 days for something from eBay from Toronto to Ottawa. It's obvious this guy waited a week or so to send. I'm not at the point where I would inquire, but if it's not here by week's end I'll be sending a polite "ah-hem".

I think the more appropriate question to ask is how long is unreasonable for someone to wait to send, not how long does it take to arrive. The other party has no control over the postal system and should not be punished for it.

I don't hit any panic buttons til a month goes by if it's out of country.. same country 3 weeks, people get busy & it's just cardboard so as long as it makes it.

I know for me anyhow, when I sell singles on eBay I do about 100-200 at a time, all ending on Sunday night. I batch up anything paid for by Wednesday (usually about 70-75% of all the sales) and ship on Thursday mornings.... then the same thing the next week. Too time consuming to be sending daily, waiting on people to pay like a dog waiting for their master. I really enjoy the buyers though that wait 8 days to pay, then open an eBay case 3-5 days after that. Makes my week. Even better when they ask for tracking on a $0.99 card LOL :)

I always wait at least 2 weeks. I have asked many people if they have gotten my package yet. Most of the time they have and have neglected to leave feedback.
The reverse has also happened. The last time it happened it was with a must send first trader. After a couple weeks they started asking if I had got their package yet and I said no but was willing to wait. Wound up waiting a couple months and got a couple more inquiries from the trade partner. As it was a purchase for me the other guy probably felt like I was ripping them off. When the cards did show I need not to check the date stamp on the stamps as the reason was obvious as to why the cards were late.

Point is be patient and comunicate

The reason I focused on the time to delivery (rather than time to ship) has to do with a recent situation I experienced. I sold a card and the buyer had opened up an "Item not received" case against me only 4 days after payment. The payment was made on a Sunday (PO closed) and the item was shipped on the Tuesday. The case was opened on Friday. I tried to explain that he should have the card within 7 days of payment and the buyer was not satisfied with that. His reply was very impudent and I expect neutral or negative feedback.

This issue is of great concern to me. While the case is open, My papyal account has been locked and I cannot pay for cards I bought.

I wanted to get a sense of the forum if this person had an unreasonable expectation of delivery.

That is brutal. People need to understand the value of communication.

I bought a card from a guy in the States back on March 11th. Shipped next day. Arrived today. That's three weeks. Is it on the high side for a standard cross-border transaction? Sure. But I know the seller's a highly reputable guy and that he's not going to be the type to screw around. Patience is a virtue. As Sean said above, if you can't wait two weeks to get a picture of a hockey man in the mail...priorities, man.
