Nashville Predators Fire Coach Barry Trotz
Just popped up on the TSN GO app.
The only coach the franchise has ever known. End of an era.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

He did a fantastic job getting the most (more?) out of a team with not many big names and not a lot of money invested in them. Great coach, but I wish my fellow Leaf fans would stop the "We need to get that guy" stuff. No, we shouldn't, unless you want to watch trap-oriented hockey every game, folks.

That's unfortunate. I played against Trotz as a Bantam, in the 60's. Great Hockey guy, tougher than a Wolverine. He will land on his feet, as he is a true survivor.
Trots only incorporated old-school hockey on defense, simply because in his whole tenure at Nashville, he never had any Superstars upfront that he could count on. Poile gave him one guy in 15 years - Shea Weber. That's unacceptable as a GM.
I think David Poile is overrated, and his selections and trades, prove it.
Poile will only ever be a David Legwand style of GM. Overrated, but looked on as a true pioneer for whatever obscure reason. Why do guys that do a Milque-Toast job as GM's get their arses kissed by everyone?
Poile, Slowe, Gillis, etc. These guys are out of touch and could not organize a two-car parade.

David Poile tries to save his own job and gets rid of a great coach. Going into this year, they needed more offence. So you go into free agency and pick up Stalberg, Cullen, Hendricks, and Nystrom? 4 guys who combined for 82 points and -40? But yeah, blame the coach, despite the fact you were within a few points of a playoff spot with a rather non-playoff roster AND a lengthy Pekka Rinne injury that resulted in Carter Hutton playing more game than any Preds goalie.

He won't be unemployed for long.

Nystrom was basically out of the NHL until Poile decided to pay him over 4 million per year, for basically Thumbing up and down the ice.
