2013-14 SCF Guess the Standings Challenge - Leg #3 In Pursuit of Patrick!
The SCF 2013-14 Guess the Standings Challenge – In Pursuit of Patrick!
With a new-look conference and division alignment, the 2013-14 NHL regular season could be one of the most unpredictable in many years. How will the Red Wings and Blue Jackets do in the Eastern Conference, and will a move to the West allow the Jets to make the playoffs for the first time since their return?
As part of our season-long Pursuit of Patrick Roy contest, we want to see what you think will happen this season, so we welcome you to the Guess the Standings Challenge!
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to correctly predict the standings and win-loss records of all 30 NHL teams for the 2013-14 season. Each correct prediction will earn you points towards winning a great prize in this contest leg and get you that much closer to your shot at winning that amazing Roy patch card.
Just in case you need to be brought up to speed, here are the new conference & division alignments:
Western Conference Eastern Conference Central Division Pacific Division Atlantic Division Metropolitan Division Chicago Blackhawks Anaheim Ducks Boston Bruins Carolina Hurricanes Colorado Avalanche Calgary Flames Buffalo Sabres Columbus Blue Jackets Dallas Stars Edmonton Oilers Detroit Red Wings New Jersey Devils Minnesota Wild Los Angeles Kings Florida Panthers New York Islanders Nashville Predators Phoenix Coyotes Montreal Canadiens New York Rangers St. Louis Blues San Jose Sharks Ottawa Senators Philadelphia Flyers Winnipeg Jets Vancouver Canucks Tampa Bay Lightning Pittsburgh Penguins Toronto Maple Leafs Washington Capitals
How to Play
You will submit a list, either via PM to RGM81 or email to [email protected] showing the final standings in each division and records for each team. For each division, you will rank the teams 1 through 7/8 depending on division. For each team, you will list their wins, losses, overtime/shootout losses, and points. I’m not going to check your math for you; if you list a team to go 40-30-12 and don’t put 82 points, that is your error and I will not correct it for you on the final score sheet.
In order to keep things engaged and active throughout the season, participants will be permitted to make adjustments at two points during the season if they so choose...but there is a catch. If you want to make standings adjustments, you must have completed at least one transaction on SCF in the previous 30 days. The two dates that we will allow adjustments are:
- November 30, 2013
- January 15, 2014
Adjustments will not be permitted on any other days during the season. To make your changes, PM or email me on that date with your revisions AND a link to a completed trade you have made on SCF in the past 30 days (November 1-30 for the first period, December 16-January 15 for the second period) – the deal must be completed and positive feedback left by both yourself and your partner.
There will be no other standings revision dates nor do you have any other SCF trade requirements for this contest.
Each correct ranking, record prediction (W/L/OTL), and points prediction will earn you one point. If you predict that Montreal will finish 3rd in the Atlantic with a 44-31-7 record for 95 points, and they come in 3rd with a 42-29-11 record for 95 points, you will receive 2 points for getting their final ranking and points total correct.
The participant who receives the most points in this contest will be declared the winner and will receive the following card prize:

2012-13 ITG Draft Prospects Draft Year Silver DY-10 Seth Jones Jersey /100
A very nice looking jersey card of 2013 #4 overall draft pick Seth Jones of the Nashville Predators!
Deadline for Entry for this Contest is Tuesday, October 8th!
The Rules
All SCF Members in good standing, including the SCF Staff, are eligible to participate in this season-long contest.
One entry per member per contest leg. Multiple entries will not be accepted.
Any Infractions or Negative Trade Feedback received during the contest will result in an automatic disqualification from the contest.
The member with the most points at the end of the contest period shall be declared the winner and will receive the Draft Prospects Seth Jones Draft Year jersey card.
In the event that top players are tied in total points, the participant that is closest to picking the correct points total (without going over) for the Colorado Avalanche will be declared the winner.
SCF Staff reserve the right to add, edit, or remove any contest legs in the overall challenge at their sole discretion.
Thank you for participating in another excellent season-long SCF Contest!
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

On these revisions, can you change your entire input? If that's the case, we are basically picking the final season standings on Jan 15th right?

If you wish to, yes. Or you can keep going with your original prediction. If nothing else, as the season unfolds we can all enjoy a good laugh at how far off-base we were about a team or two. :)

Off your example I come up with 92 points. See how easy mistakes can be made. ;)Last edited by waf; 10-07-2013 at 12:29 PM.
