    Schoolboy ice hockey player arrested after coach of fierce rivals is HEADBUTTED durin

    A teenager in an under-16s ice hockey game was arrested after a rival coach was headbutted during a mass brawl.
    The game between the youth teams of Coventry Blaze and Sheffield Steelers in Coventry city centre was abandoned after the alleged attack.
    Police arrested a 15-year-old Sheffield player at about 6pm on Sunday following the incident. Tempers flared after Sheffield went 3-2 up, crippling Coventry's hopes of winning the league title.

    The British Men's Inter-league Hockey is a thug-fest. People from working class towns simply love a full bench-clearing brawl, and hockey is often reduced to this.

    38 years ago, I had the opportunity to play there, but when I saw the level of stupidity on the ice, and that it was actually expected from the fans I politely declined. The stick to Hockey model does not apply in the UK.

    I am not surprised the younger players are now similarly involved. In the 70's there was little to no minor Hockey like there is now, but it's not always about the game.
