    Getting Started at Making Customs

    Hi

I am new to the forum. I would like to make some custom cards to collect autographs and am hoping that I can get some advice. I have had a bit of an obsession with cabinet sized cards (~5x7) and would like to try and make them in a Gypsy Queen/Allen and Ginter Baseball card style. My questions are as follows:

    - I am not a professional designer, but am not afraid of working with software. Would my best bet be photoshop (which I have already) or is there another package that would work better?
    - Is it difficult to find good photos that would work for a card this size? My first target cards I would like to make are of some of the Toronto Blue Jays from 1992 and 1993 so from what I could find in Google the older images aren't as plentiful as those from recent years. If anyone has any advice on where to find quality images I would appreciate it.

I have a few more questions but these are probably the nuts and bolts questions I have to get started. If there is anyone who has advice, or in an off chance is interested in tutoring a new designer I would appreciate any advice I can get.

    Thanks
    Dano

You found the right board. I found rockies custom thread (stickied at the top) super helpful. I use photoshop, but have used gimp and paint and would now not ever use anything but photoshop.
    Good luck!
