On the firing of the assistant coaches, Nonis could only say, "I don't blame the assistant coaches for what went wrong." Then why are they the only ones feeling the axe?
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Absolute genius move by the Leafs. Other teams will now be expecting an easy win because Carlyle is the coach, and then the Leafs will strike....
And that is the closest sarcastic rationale I can come up with. I think MLSE has fully realized they are a money-printing machine regardless of team performance.

Harold Ballard habits die hard I'd say. Similar to Bill Wirtz habits.

Perplexing decision for sure.
I think all the coaches should have been relieved of their duties and someone in the mold of Mark Messier should be brought in. There would be accountability then.
I am not saying they should hire Messier. He wants to be a GM, not a coach. The Leafs do need a coach who can make players soil themselves with one look though.
While they are at it, send 'Pylon' Phaneuf to Medvescak Zagreb for a bag of pucks.

How can you keep the coach, but fire the assistant coaches, the one that was in charge should have been fired, Randy and Davy Boy.

The day before they signed Randy, TSN reported Babcock was coming to the Leafs, why would they want Babcock, he's all about winning?.

Babcock won't ever want to coach the Leafs, there's a dark cloud over that franchise. Besides, Illitch has basically given him the keys to the Royal Palace.

I think if he came to the Leafs, he would be Coach and General Manager,
to coach the Leafs is something very special, they just haven't had any luck with there choices.
