Has a Team Ever Won the Cup without a Captain
As my team, the New York Rangers, moves on to the Conference Finals, with no team captain, I was wondering has any team has ever won the Cup without a captain? Also, what would the Rangers do if (when) they won the Cup this season without a captain.

A quick google search and it appears that it's happened twice. The 69-70 and 71-72 Bruins had multiple alternate captains but no specific guy. Both times it was handed to Bucyk as he was the most senior player on the team.
Interesting question about what the Rangers would do. Would they go with Richards, Nash, Lundqvist, or even St. Louis as a sentimental pick? I'll admit I haven't paid enough attention to the team to know who is more of a leader.

Whomever is designated as the first alternate would receive the Cup. So only the Rangers would know who their First Alternate is.
