    Upper Deck Redemption Complaint

    Hey guys,

Nothing major, but I found this kind of irritating and wanted to see what you all thought. I was lucky enough to hit a Gold Authentic Trouba auto from SP Game Used. The card was a redemption, but Trouba is my main PC so I was happy to hit the card and wait for it to arrive. The card came today.

While it is a very nice looking card, it is clearly a sticker auto. My question is "Why was this card a redemption if it was just a sticker auto?" They were all out of Trouba stickers? I just assumed that a redemption meant I would be getting a nice on card autograph. Am I off base? Have any of you experienced this before?

    Thanks for your thoughts.

SP Game Used never has hard-signed autographs with the exception of the Letter/Draft/etc. Marks.

They were waiting on a fresh batch of sticker sheets from Trouba, as well as his Draft Marks by the looks of eBay. They had his SPx stuff live so it likely just showed up shortly after the cut-off for the SPGU packout.

Yep, SPGU = sticker most of the time and it sucks. This is reflected in the retail and secondary market prices. I agree that with a little more effort they could have sent the cards to be hard-signed, once they found out they were out of stickers. It can't be that hard. Look for more of the same as UD once again enjoys its licensed card monopoly.

Then you'd have everybody under the sun complaining that some guy for the Jets is a hard-signed card while everybody else is stuck with stickers. Have to stay consistent with these types of things.

LOL - true, card collectors would find some way to make that a negative. For most, though, it would be a nice little bonus.

It really is a shame, especially since it didn't start out the way. I remember opening pack after pack of that stuff in 00/01 - jersey pieces in most, numbered jerseys in some, every now and then a SWEET patch or combo and then the beautiful, numbered, HARD-SIGNED autos from BIG names: Gretzky, Yzerman, Bure, Hull, Bourque, Leclair and Gomez (hey, they were hot back then!) and some youngster named Luongo.

Today's product is a pale reflection of the goodness that was 00/01 SPGU. Pooch officially screwed.

I KNOW RIGHT??? And the kicker is that you can get the 00/01's so incredibly cheap nowadays, a hard signed Steve Yzerman auto with a decent-sized red jersey swatch /150 for less that $35............... there's no Pet Semetary on earth that can resurrect any of it!
