Usenet
Did anyone use Usenet back in the day to make trading card transactions? I found some old stuff through Google groups that gave me a good laugh. Here is one thread I made back in 1998:

Goggle user groups were the rage back in the day and some groups had thousands of people in a group. Used to be in inroads for hockey but never joined any others. Nothing wrong with Ron Mercer lol.

Yeah, even before Google groups, I remember all the talk about Precious Metal Gems, Star Rubies, and Atomic Refractors on rec.collecting.sport.basketball back in the day. I did join a Google group in 2001 that had an e-mail mailing list, and I made lots of transactions there as well. Everyone wanting Vince Carter back then.

Ron Mercer's stuff was pretty popular when he was drafted by the Celtics. He was the #6 pick and I'm pretty sure he was one of the most valuable guys behind Duncan and Van Horn. Those two were the top tier guys that everyone wanted but Mercer was in the next tier. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

These groups did so much for sharing of information, trading, as it opened up your geographical areas to the world instead of your neck of the woods. Wonder if there still diehards still using the old groups?
