Montreal, Colorado, Pittsburgh, Edmonton....basically the same as it's been all year.

I never pick any of those because they are all overpriced and I'm a pens fan.

Edmonton and montreal completely overrated.

The top picks in anthology are always blue jackets, sabres, leafs, islanders and anaheim.

I could just buy a Galchenyuk/yakupov FWA for the cost of the break.

Supposed rabbit fan base and Galchenyuk/yakupov YG's sell for pennies now. Won't be much more in spa.

Buffalo and wild seem like a possible bargain.

If you want quantity, sure. But how many players from those teams will have any actual trade/re-sale value a year down the road?

Remember that there's much more than just Galchenyuk from the Habs to consider - Gallagher certainly holds up well, and you've always got the possibility of hard-signed and usually SP'd autos from Roy, Price, Beliveau, other legends, and so on.

I can't speak to the Oilers fan base and how many rabbits they have collecting cards and chewing on the corners, but Yakupov basically took a massive dive because his on-ice performance was terrible. When you spend significant time in the pressbox while your peers are lighting up the scoresheets, it's to be expected that things will drop.

So you don't think jenner/coyle/strome/granlund/etem/gibson/nelson/etc. have any trade value in the future? They are already decent now and played well in the playoffs.

Your right about the old timers autos but anthology had none of those plus spa some of the autos have like 28000:1 odds and still not worth much....that's 1 in like 120 cases...no thanks.

Crosby does not even have an auto plus all the veterans autos get played out.

Checklist is weak. Edmonton is $125 I see....even wild are $50.
Blues seem like an Ok deal. Gretzky too..

This is a preliminary checklist and as always, right up until the moment the product is released, subject to change.

I would suggest to you that many of those players will have a very limited hobby appeal within 1-2 years. It's the nature of the hobby. Guys that aren't A+ players in their rookie season will soon slide down to the middle and lower tiers of collectibility. That's not a knock on them as players at all. Heck, you mentioned Galchenyuk (who is and will be an A+ player) and how his YG's can be had for pretty cheap now - $10-$15 is a crazy good deal and would be a great pickup for any Habs fan. Pretty much everybody but MacKinnon has already dropped off substantially, so those guys languishing on Long Island aren't going to get a lot of love. Nature of the hobby.

Consider the case of 2008-09 and the hottest rookie and eventual Calder winner: Steve Mason. People were paying through the nose for him during 08-09 and I remember at the time saying that people were crazy paying big dollars for a goalie for the Columbus Blue Jackets. It was a short-term thing that would never have a lasting impact.

Charlie Coyle will likely be best remembered by card collectors for allegedly drawing a phallic symbol on one of his Trilogy RC's.

Again, sure that some of them will be decent players but we all know that on-ice performance doesn't always translate into being a desirable or collectible player with widespread appeal.

Justin Williams just won a Conn Smythe Trophy. You think anybody's going to be clamouring for his RC's, autographs, and memorabilia to the extent that there's going to be ^ next to his cards anytime soon? Maybe for a few weeks, but like anything it dies down.

The hobby at large has a very short attention span. We've still got six licensed releases left (three per company) in 2013-14 and we're already being inundated with product previews for 2014-15 Upper Deck offerings. The summer months will see some fantastic high-end releases but with the actual season over, people will do like they usually do: frenzy for the top names, initial solid interest in the second tier, and lots of grumbling over breaks that don't have either of those two.

Long term, everything drops.
Hockey does not have the scoring anymore to keep interests up.
Records can't be broken, legends can't be made.

People like to buy cup rookies of decent players and not overrated and overpriced /99 rookies. A /249 jurco cup rpa will have demand for a while till he sucks. He's no star or even close yet.

A sig and nice patch always sell.

No one would ever care about justin williams, he's basically the nba version of Robert Horry. There all buying toffoli and pearson..

Guy played the full season up with the Isles after a solid yet short stint in 12-13. Most of the season was with Tavares as well if you look at his stats. If you want a who, Anton Belov and Brian Lashoff both have FWA. Same can be said for Gudas over Johnson and Brian Dumoulin. UD plays favorites to teams. I could easily name 3-5 guys who should be removed and replaced both non-auto and auto with guys deserving of cards in this set.
