Not surprising given the team's performance in the recent post-season. Also, Rutherford will want his own guy.

I still don't understand how Rutherford is better than Shero. Shero destroyed Rutherford on the Staal trade. The biggest knock against Shero was drafting. I just looked up Rutherfords drafts from 2005 and on and his 2 biggest picks after the 1st round were Justin Faulk and Jamie Mcbain. That's not too good.

The Pens need some changes meaning a decent sized trade. I trust Shero to do that more than Rutherford. The other thing I don't like is that Rutherford just flat out said he is here only for 2-3 years. Whats the point of firing Shero and hiring a guy that's only going to be here a few years.

The biggest mistake they could have made they did in firing Shero. Its going to come back to haunt them. Not a fan of the move as its a downgrade from Shero. If I had to pick between the people they were looking at Rutherford would have been my first choice.

Ron Wilson has coached some teams to pretty good records in the past. He probably wouldn't be my first choice, but wouldn't be the worst choice out there. Of course, I compare every coaching option to Dallas Eakins.... and I'd happily take Ronny Wilson over him.

Don't understand why he was not fired when Shero was. Yes Shero does not draft well but hew manages the Cap and brings in players for the playoff run. What has Rutherford done?

Rutherford's won as many Stanley Cups as a GM as Shero, with far more restrictions cap-wise than Shero has had. Of even great importance, he actually found another GM dumb enough to take Tomas Kaberle's contract.

I do agree that Byslma should have been chopped at the same time as Shero. I'm sure that he's known this day was coming as most GM's want to install their own guys, so he's likely been updating his resume the past three weeks.
