Need Help/Info on 05/06 SPA FWAP
I am working on a purchase of a high end FWAP from 05/06. I have come to find out from someone else besides the seller that the length of the card is less than the standard dimension. The seller never disclosed this information until I asked him about it.
I am confused because I have received conflicting information.
Here are some PMs I have received with information/opinions on the card, the user's names will not be disclosed.
Person A:
not sure if you made the deal on it or not.
The card is altered/trimmed. You'll see when it arrives.
Seller should be disclosing this to you
I made a deal on it two weeks ago. It's so obviously altered
Glad that seller was a "must send first" member
It was member named ... (Person C) ... that clued me in
Seller:
I dont think its trimmed. The manufactures just cut it wrong. Its literally not even a centimeter though, you cant even notice it, it doesnt change anything about the card.
Person B:
The card was made slightly smaller by UD. Many cards from that year had the same problem and a number of sets have that in general. It was sold to me by one of the best traders in Toronto and he says it was a PC Card for years so I trust in his opinion
Person C:
in my opinion the card has been altered. I've had the card in my hand and it is significantly smaller than others, there's no proof it's been trimmed. But 100% small.
Does anyone have any other information/opinions on whether the information from the seller and Person B is correct that it was cut wrong by UD, like if this has happened before with this set or other sets, etc. Or if this card is most likely tampered. And if it has been manufactured this way by UD, if this will have any significant effect on the value of the card.
Thanks for looking and any information I can get.
Cheers.

Not sure if you have the card incoming, but if you ever get it in hand look at the edges with a loupe, you should be able to tell if it was trimmed.
I don't know these particular cards, but it wouldn't be that strange for cards to be miscut at the factory. UD should be able to give you a idea on how common miscuts are on this set.

I had this card in hand and took it to Overtime Sports Cards to compare to another 2005 sp rookie patch auto. It is considerably smaller - quite small in fact. Moreover, it's trimmed slightly diagonal when you set it horizontally next to another card same issue.
I emailed upper Deck about possible variation in the card sizes for this year.
This is their reply:

Hello Ross,
Thank you for the email. This card would have been produced at the standard size that all other cards in that series were produced at.
Sincerely,

As I told Brent, the card needs to go back to Tuukkatime where he got it from...unless Brent knew of the issue all along.
