    Trade: Columbus & Philadelphia

The Flyers have brought back a familiar face in R.J. Umberger. Going to Columbus is Scott Hartnell.

This trade is a push, unless the Flyers can do something with the additional 4th rounder. Hartnell takes a few more penalties, but in the Flyers scheme, that seems to be a team requirement, as they don't look at PIM's the way other teams do.

I can't believe Umberger gets near 20 goals for a couple of years, and can't get more than 1-2 shifts per game. I'd want out of Columbus as well at that rate.

Very disappointed Hartnell is no longer with the Flyers! He makes the rivalry better.

Hockey wise it looks like a very fair deal. Hartnell seems to play exactly how PHI like its players to play and does his job extremely well. I would love to have him on my team.

Yeah, I wonder what has gotten into Holmgren again. He dumped Umberger a few years back, and now it's cost him a whole lot more to get him back.

I also just assumed that guys like Hartnell and Simmonds could retire as Flyers, as they are very team-first, and hard hitting forwards that go to the net.

my word. Maybe I'm undervaluing Umberger too much.... but Harntell was exactly the kind of player I thought the Oilers needed to go after this summer, and I would have welcomed MacTavish paying more than that that for him.

    WTG Columbus.

Love this trade as a Blue Jackets fan; Umberger was a pile of garbage last year with a garbage contract. To be able to get anything for him was a win.
