was not a fan of shero, dan bylsma icould go either way at times.
not sure as to how well the new guys will blend with the core team.
on paper they look worse, but only time will tell how the adapt. the losses do help creat some cap space I think so we can pursue some other FA and build a stronger team.

I think you're going to be surprised.
I'm probably in the minority, but I think losing Niskanen and Orpik while adding Ehrhoff and probably Derrick Pouliot will probably improve the defense as well as provide Johnston with the personnel to run the type of system he's good at.
I also don't think Pittsburgh is done making moves. My guess is that Scuderi and/or Martin are being shopped right now while they work on signing the RFAs. Until they get those guys signed, they won't be able to properly evaluate what they can go after to fill holes in the top 6 with UFAs. Scuderi and Martin are crappy contracts, but Scuderi will look good to teams trying to get to the cap floor and Pittsburgh can afford to consume a couple million of Martin's salary to get a deal done. Neither will net more than a mid-to-late round pick. Johnston is a puck possession guy and until he gets the right balance of personnel, he's going to be in a tough spot. I agree that watching the Pens this season will be quite different than the last couple, but they are certainly not going to be a worse team.

I'm on the wait and see approach. I knew this team wouldn't have been able to keep majority of the players, but we lost the grit. The roster isn't complete, but like someone mentioned above moving Scudari or Martin would free up. Once again we have finesse players up and down the roster.
