    Mike Trout Fail

I went to the White Sox vs Angels game in Chicago last Tuesday, July 1, and had one of the biggest autograph fails of my life. A huge crowd was trying to get Mike Trout to sign during pregame. Trout finally came over to sign for about 3 minutes and my friend was right where Trout started to sign. Of course, everyone rushed over to the same spot and Trout was getting mobbed with baseballs and cards. I tossed my friend a ROMLB to get signed and sure enough Trout takes the ball from my friend, signs it, THEN GIVES THE BASEBALL TO A DIFFERENT PERSON! And with a huge crowd, neither of us could see where the ball ended up. We kept asking around and of course its impossible to figure out who Trout gave the baseball to in a large crowd like that. So not only did I end up losing a baseball (it was also a foul ball that I caught just a few weeks ago), but someone else ended up getting a ROMLB with Trout's autograph just handed to them. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or knows what to do in this type of situation.

I've always been scared that this would happen to me in New York City!!!!! Never actually seen it happen as far as I know though. Very tough luck, hopefully you'll be able to get him in the future.

That sucks. I've been in huge crowds but your hand should never leave his line of sight as he's signing. I'd be asking my friend to spring for a new ball- seems like he got too shy in the big moment. You saw how much goodwill was in the crowd for you guys from the ppl who stole the ball- goodwill the other way is useless. I would have grabbed the ball from the guy.

    This happened to me- twice.

Steve Nash signed a mini ball for me in a crowd and dropped it and a guy took it. I kept telling him it was mine and that I wasn't leaving without it until he gave it up.

Another time an usher brought a Homerun ball into the clubhouse for willy aybar to sign. He emerged from the clubhouse and forgot that it was my ball and handed it to the first girl he saw. I went up and confronted her- she was drunk and with her boyfriend. At first she wouldn't give it up but ultimately she did.

Unfortunately people will steal from you in this world and sometimes you have to be rude and proactive.
