The Panini America Quality Control Gall
It’s not everyday that a trading card product can virtually introduce a new word into the English language. Then again, it’s not everyday a product releases that’s as . . . well . . . “spectracular” as Panini America’s upcoming 2013-14 Spectra Basketball. “Spectracular” is a word we used to describe the pioneering 2013 Spectra Football when it released in March; it’s a word that seems so apropos yet again for the inaugural Spectra Basketball, which arrives in hobby shops one week from today.
While we continue lobbying the folks at Merriam-Webster to add “spectracular” to the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, we thought we’d share with you just some of the images that have us so excited, compliments of Monday’s Quality Control and Packout processes.

I like the die cuts and the lighting and colors on some of these, but it's regrettable that the autos are primarily of the sticker variety. I also wonder how much different these Spectras look in person than some of the die cuts and shiny technology found in their Prizm and Select products.
