Quite the ride....

So, I used to collect cards as a kid...and after college, job, wife, house, 2 kids....I decided to pick it back up in around 2006-2007. Had limited options on trading and buying and selling for a couple years until I found SCF in May of 2009. And what a ride it has been....I amassed a pretty solid collection of Ryan Miller, Gil Perreault, other Buffalo Sabres, and Hockey Hall of Famers...until this summer. Over 4000 posts and over 750 positive feedback, I decided to sell off the whole thing except for a few nice wall hanging pieces. And with this message, I can say I have moved the collection in pieces to get me what I had needed to get out of it. I may get back into it eventually, but with shipping costs the way they are, and the price of wax, I just don't know how invested I will get. So, as I take time away, just wanted to say thanks to the community for years of fun, and I will be around, just not as active as I was, and for those that I have traded with, or met in person up in Toronto, thanks - it was a blast!

BUT...if you happen to have a 2011-2012 ITG BTP 10th anniversary Jumbo Stick piece Antti Niemi, gimme a shout!

It's not always easy to give up a great hobby and a fantastic collection, but I'm glad to hear that you're stepping away with no regrets (by the sounds of it) and were able to find a good new home for most of your cards.

Glad to hear you got what you wanted out of it. I too recently have decided to stop trading as much online as well. It was primarily due to the shipping costs but also the lack of interests my cards/threads were generating as well. I just dont have the time too to keep up with buying the newest and greatest autos patches etc. So I can trade. I am hoping that this sale off of my trade list will generate the same results you were able to obtain in getting what you want out of it.
