Just my typical luck...
Was walking through Target today, and I saw these boxes of Contenders cards hanging on the shelf. Just unusual packages I had never seen, so they caught my eye. 20 cards for $20, but with two guaranteed autos in each box. Thought what the hell, I'll take a chance. Well, my two autos were John Muse (CAR) and David Broll (TOR).
Now, I have opened a lot of different products this year. None of the $300-a-pack products, but at least one of most things. Been trading on here and looking at people's lists and buckets. And I can honestly say, I have NEVER even heard/seen those two names before!
I can understand bringing out new cards for new rookies that starred late in the year. But does Panini really think Broll's five games warranted a late-rookie card? And Muse is a 25-year-old that has never played an NHL game! You really think people are going to be clamoring for his rookie autograph card now?
I know I deserve what I get for buying retail. I guess it was just Panini's way of getting rid of crap they wont be able to sell later. But it sure doesn't make me want to go out and buy any Prime now...SHARKS and CAPITALS Fan +++ Tomas Hertl cards: 512 & counting Hidden Content ...... Hidden Content

Check my traders for the Broll. I could use it.

^^ And there ya go. LOL
I don't see any correlation between the weak checklist for Panini Contenders Retail and Prime.
Two completely different products on vastly different scales.
That would be like saying you had a bad experience at McDonald's so now you're weary of eating at a fancy restaurant that also has hamburgers on the menu.

2 guaranteed autos as well as 18 other cards for the low price of $20, and they couldn't even make sure to have a superstar-only autograph checklist. The nerve! I will not be supplying this card company with my hard-earned twenties, that's for sure!
