That wouldn't be so unusual depending on how many base cards are in the checklist. In 06-07 base were /699.

Upper Deck didn't produce enough hockey cards during last year lockout season, so they have to make up for the lost revenues to pay NHLPA licenses.

I've always heard rumors that all The Cup base cards are not packed out as they hold back a percentage for replacement and only pack out what is needed to 'fill in' around the hits. Could be something similar with Ultimate Collection.

Whether it's 'over-produced' or not is a matter of opinion... Most years sell out and the $100 /pack price is a steal in 6-12 months. If MacKinnon continues on his current trajectory, 13-14 will be a steal at release...

I guess that 05-06 is a steal because Crosby and Ovechki, 06-07 because of Malkin, 07-08 because of Toews, 08-09 because of Stamkos, ect. I think your wrong there. You have a very very small chance at hitting Mackinnon. Most (95%) of the boxes will have less than $100 worth of cards. Just because there is one player that will sell for $300 and all the others will be under $100 doesn't make that box a steal at $100.

There is no box that is a "steal" on release day.
