Sending a bat TTM
I know it will cost a decent amount both ways, but I was thinking of getting a bat made with Josh Hamilton's name on it. Since he signs around Christmas, Do you think he would have a problem signing a bat since it's not the usual ball or card if I sent it to the team address? Would the team even accept it? Thanks for your responses. Im trying to get opinions before I drop some $$ on this project. Thanks, Rob

Hi Rob-
Those are some great questions that I'm sure many here wished they had answers to. You are correct that it would be a costly endeavor, but, no guts, no glory ... as the saying goes. If it were me attempting this, I would probably substitute a regular Rawlings bat over one custom made with his name on it, as that might take a little longer to produce and you are already down to the last month of the season. It would still be a great item if you could get it done. And even if it was returned unsigned, you can use the bat for someone else.
My gut feeling is the team would accept it, and potentially he might sign it earlier and return it so he didn't have to lug that big package all the way home with the rest of his mail. Also be sure to include STAMPS and a return mailing label for him to use. It has to be stamps and not a PVI label for postage. A PVI is what the clerks use in the post office as postage for parcels. They can only be mailed from the office they are generated from, therefore you will need the equivalent return postage in stamps. I'm estimating $10-12 each way.
Wishing you all the best of luck should you attempt this project. Some risks involved for sure, but the reward part of it would be fantastic.

Thank you for your response. You are probably right about just sending a generic bat this late in the season. Thanks again!

Maybe send a letter asking the player if he would sign a bat, before you send the bat.I have done this with jerseys. That way if you don't get a response, you might not want to send the bat.

Not a bad idea but i'm not sure he would respond either way or even read the letter with as much mail as he gets but it definitely wouldn't hurt to try.
