for your collection, which would you rather have? I know BGS is the "better" but I was thinking theres just something cool about having a card say 10 GEM MINT...

PSA 10! Why, because 10 is better than 9.5. Plus, I like how PSA shows what the grades are for corners, edges, ect.
Just my thought!

I think for my collection I would rather have the PSA 10. I think that overall the market believes that Beckett is more discriminating than PSA. I think that for resale value the Beckett 9.5 would sell for more than the PSA 10.

What's the point of having the highest grade be 9.5?
Is it a way of saying there is no card that would rate a "Perfect 10?"

A modern card or a vintage card?
Now or 3 years ago?
Yes, my answers would change.
Vintage - Pre-War PSA or SGC
Vintage - Post-War - 1980 PSA
Modern 1981 -> BGS. Although let me qualify that by saying I wouldn't touch a new BGS 9.5 card with a 10 foot pole. And by "new" I mean any high profile card with the sub grades on the front label.
The market will crash on beckett someday...
