Joe Biden, The Anti-Semite?

I don't know if Biden is a hard-core anti-Semite, but he clearly had a severe brain-to-mouth malfunction. In a speech Biden used the term "Shylock" which is an old anti-Semetic term. Think redskin for Native Americans or negro for blacks. It isn't a commonly used term anymore, but it is still offensive to Jewish people. Not surprisingly, Biden has neither acknowledged his ignorance nor has he apologized for it even though his office has been contacted about it by CNN.

The name "Shylock" derives from the name of the antagonist in Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice." Shylock, a Jew, was a ruthless moneylender in the play, and he's remembered for demanding a "pound of flesh" from the merchant Antonio if he failed to repay a loan.

"Shylock represents the medieval stereotype about Jews and remains an offensive characterization to this day," Foxman said. "The vice president should have been more careful."

The vice president's office did not immediately return a request for comment from CNN.

I'd say brain-to-mouth malfunction. Biden's notorious for those. Not by any means his first.
