Russia Sending Bomber Patrols To Gulf of Mexico

I don't know how to interpret this. It is difficult to take this any other way than a threat to our security. In recent weeks Russia has buzzed US, Canadian and European air space with their bombers, but this latest revelation is nothing but a pure test of American resolve. If we allow this then we are essentially admitting that we either fear them or are willing to allow them to threaten our borders. With the range that their ICBMs that they carry on these bombers they can easily nuke nearly any east coast city from the Gulf of Mexico before our countermeasures would have a chance to deploy. This is very, very bad.

Very spooky. I would hate to see what war with Russia would be like. I also hope it's not another Cold War because our funds and their funds are tapped out.

Where have you been, this is another Cold War.

Of all the Russian flying in international air space throughout the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s....they never flew in the Gulf of Mexico, this is a first I believe. Add to it the nearly 40-50 recent NATO encounters in the last 6-8 months and you can bet Russia is testing the waters.

This is pretty spooky. I'm not exactly what our government response should be.

What do you think bush would have done?

I think Bush would have sent some F-22s up in the sky to have a meet and greet at 40,000 feet. I don't he would have ordered them to engage but at least you could show that we were paying attention.

War has two sides. Russia spending and bulking up their army while we cut ours is not a cold war.

It's also not the only barometer, it may be a classic definition but things have changed from the 50s and 60s.

I would guess we had eyes in the sky just nothing reported about it. We have had meet and greets, as has canada and many other countries.
