Upper Deck basically releases everything as a mock up for upcoming products. I can't recall the last time they did not. Most of the other card companies do as well now.Selling all my cards here updated as of May------------> Hidden Content

11-24-2014, 12:55 PM #12hockey collectors can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that a Young Guns card of Tampa Bay Lightning rookie Jonathan Drouin is on the way
Are you serious Upper Deck?? I sigh of relief??
I guess I must be in the minority that thought "who cares, he'll be in Series 2 instead" when the checklist came out? Not once did the idea of waiting until February for a Drouin YG cause me any grief.

hehehehe.
I know I must come across as sounding negative sometimes...... and normally that is not my intent.
But "a sigh of relief" ?? I do mean what I said. Why should anyone care that this year's best rookie is in Series 2? If it's a set you're going to bust a few boxes of regardless (like me) which series which rookie gets into doesn't make a difference. UD Series 1/2 has been around forever because it's a great product, and collectible. Yes.... the rookies drive the product (lots of collectors don't want the set, but they want the YG of all the big guys) but I must be getting old: The whole "I need to have the latest and greatest, and I need to have it now" mentality, I just don't get it. It's that sort of attitude that's hurting this hobby. Upper Deck isn't doing themselves any favours by playing into it.... just reassuring everyone that by February 2015 we'll all be able to get Mackinnon at a discount, because this year's guy has finally arrived.
