why trade over the internet?
it seems like almost every other trade that i have conducted i get creased cards in return. when a person states a card is mint or nm, it should not have any creased or major damaged to the card. some of the cards that i have received lately are completely out of control. i mean at least three or four major creases. yes, i am very picky about my cards, but these creases are so big you could see them from the moon. so when i ask, "what is the condition of the card?" and a person states, " m or nm it better not have any creases." i have been cool about not leaving negative remarks for people, if the cards are from 02-03 because i send them back to the company for replacement. but i am getting frustrated doing this, so i will to longer do it. please have the common courtesy and not send me damaged cards. thanks, russ
the other option is to quit trading on-line and just trade at card show were i can inspect the cards. lmk what you think about this subject?

well, in my experience, trading at a show means trading with dealers. They always need premiums on trades, and will also give you the value that suits them the best. Such that if you have a card that books for $80 and sells for $10, they will insist on cash value, while if your card books $40 and sells for $30, they will insist on book. Collector to Collector trades are always the best, there is no money involved, just what is wanted and offered. I have improved my collection 3-fold since beginning trading over the net. I find most people to be honest.
However, on the subject of jerseys being bent, many are, and even large creases are sometimes hard to see. I have sent bent jerseys that i didnt know were creased on three occasions, but when informed, i always made up for it- and now i always check the jerseys before i send them

thanks for the reply- bdrr i agree but some of these creases are hugh and there is no way that somebody could miss them. i figured everyone inspected their cards before they sent them out. i do that so i hope i get that in return. yhea, i could bring it to their attention, but it is such a pain in the but. if i ask, are there any creases, and the person replies back ,"no creases and card is mint/near-mint." that leads me to believe that they inspected the card and in fact it has no creases. would you agree with that? thanks, russ

i am not trying to point fingers at anyone. i just wanted to bring up the topic. in addition, i trade at multiple sites, so it was not just directed towards people i have traded with from this site. i have completed many successful trades on this site.

well, i would agree, but a lot of times people inspect the card when they get it from a bidboard or trade or eBay etc, and it seems fine...but it turns out they missed something
i had to remove quite a few cards from my trade site because they were damaged in places i didnt notice when i bought them

bdrr- i want to show a scan of some of the cards i have received in a trade.
scan
you really can not tell how bad these cards are from the scan. the two cards i just received are ten times worst then these on the scan. it looked like somebody ran over them with a car.

Well that's one of the reasons why I don't trade over the Internet unless I have a scan of the card. If I traded with someone before then yes I will but if not then I don't.
If it does look like people intentionally sent you cards that were damaged then I'd leave them a negative if they didn't offer a refund or sent in through the mail very sloppy.Selling all my cards here updated as of May------------> Hidden Content

I am sorry you have had such rotten luck Russ :( That's just wrong that people would intentionally send messed up stuff!
I am glad you have a scanner and can scan the cards as evidence. I had something happen to me with a trader from beckett in which I received a card in trade for a bunch of GU. Well....the person writes and tells me all the cards I sent were messed up in one way or another except 1....now I know that is not true as those cards were inspected as I put them into the package, so I asked for scans and info about which cards were damaged. He ignored this, so I asked him again, again he ignored it. This leads me to believe he was full of it. I sent him another $50 worth of cards anyways. It really bugged me to do it, but I did it.
I know I would NEVER intentionally send stuff out damaged , and it really makes me wonder about people who do. I think e1 at one time or another has probably sent a jersey out that had a hairline crease next to the jersey, I have received many like that, and let it go because sometimes they just come out of the pack that way, but the deep creases are evident and should never be traded w/o letting someone know.
One reason for damage to jerseys I believe is people don't use the right size toploaders for them...if you shove one down into a regular size toploader there is going to be some sort of damage! I think people should treat every card they are going to trade as one from their personal collection!
Good luck to you in future trades!
Peace,
Rima

WOW!
You are a VERY NICE person.
I know if something liked that happened to me I wouldn't have responded that nicely.
I've learned from eBay and from trading that people DO LIE about sending payment. I ask them to show a receipt of a money order or some proof and then all the emails that I was getting a couple times a day stop. They suddenly don't want to talk with me anymore. Hmm. Kinda funny that 2 seconds ago they were saying they sent something and then after I ask a question they go into hiding.
That's when you can tell they are lying. Then they think you will forget about it and then leave them alone.
I don't like when people lie and try to scam other people.
If any of you guys come across something where you think you are getting ripped off or somebody NOT sending his part of the deal PLEASE LET ONE OF THE MODS KNOW. Knowing is the only way we can help you.
