Best 2014-15 Base Set?
Hey all. I am a base set collector wondering what any of you think is the best base set to get. In the distant past it was O PeeChee (70's and 80's) and then UD in the 90's. I got out of it for a while, and am getting back in. What do you think? Seems to me UD is still a good looking, fun set to go with, but are there any others?

UD if going for design, OPC if going for the most expansive set.

I really like UD Series 1/2. Always have.
You're going to get two large base sets (200 cards each) plus 50 SP'd rookies in each. It's challenging.... but not too challenging to finish, and usually a few of the rookies hold some value. Plus it's been around, basically in that format (Series 1/2 that is, sizes of set and SPs differ over the years) since 1990, which gives you a really stable brand year over year. You can be sure that as long as UD has a license, they're going to make this set every year.
OPC is a much bigger set, and from what I can tell a bigger challenge if you want all the SPs. Then the update cards are inserted into UD Series 2 packs, kinda forcing you to buy a different product to finish your first one.
UD has some other really low end stuff, but nothing else I'd recommend if you're interested in doing base sets.

Thanks for the info so far.
looks like I will continue with the Upper Deck stuff since that is what I was collecting in the early 90's when I go out of it. I think it will allow me to makes a nice continuous flow to fill in the gap, and I always liked the look and the extras they offered <- just enough to not be overwhelming.
I like the continuity that it offers. I guess tha twas more of what I was asking/looking for.
Happy New Year to all!!!

What Ranford said, with UD 1 and 2 you basically get to put together 2 sets, regular with YG's and Canvas with YG's, with the Canvas being just rare enough to make it a challenge, but no means impossible, especially with so many available for trade right Here. I think the Canvas cards are really cool as well, and it is nice to have every YG, as you never know who is going to be a superstar.
