Whatever happened to trading etiquette?

I've always enjoyed trading, not just my cards and memorabilia on here, but also other stuff on craigslist. There is something about getting rid of something I don't want/need in exchange for something a want/need with no exchange of money. I feel like I would have been a great fur trader if I had been born 300 years earlier.

My biggest complaint on here is trader etiquette. It seems like some traders just have no clue. These are some of the things that are frustrating...

1. When someone says they are interested in your HOF item, then tell you to "check my bucket" only to find low-end $2 autos and gu. Sorry, I'm not going to trade my $25 HOF autographed piece for a $2 autograph. If you don't have quality items to trade, don't waste my time.

2. When traders ask you to "check my bucket for x card" then you spend time finding a card you would trade for, then they don't respond to your message. It takes less than a minute to respond "I'm not interested."

3. When traders say their card books at $25 but that same card is for sale on COMC for $2. BV is only relevant when the card has a BV over $100. If two cards have a BV of $25, but one card sells for $20 on eBay or COMC and the other one sells for $2, Im sorry, but that's not a fair trade in my opinion even though the BV is the same.

some people are very passionate about that! BV only...I never understood it. Makes me want to creep on eBay and COMC for $2 cards that book for $25 and trade them off

I have seen some stick to book value when it benefits them and change to sales value when it benefits them. I don't care what beckett says i don't have beckett. Ebay is free to check prices on and the only way i go. As for #2 the responding? That happens all the time even from traders who have been doing this a while. I guess they think because you send them a price for selling something that they don't like they just don't respond. even if you state please let me know either way, or OBO is in place. A lot of people want things for nothing. I had a guy ask me if a price was my lowest on a $100 card, and i said maybe not, but i'm not going to sell it for $50. I never heard back from them at all so must mean they wanted it for $50 or less. A lot of stuff doesn't make much sense, just have to go with it and do things the way you do them.
