Probably a bit of both. Looks like Austin Rivers was included in the deal via the Pelicans and now he seems to be traded away for another pick.

I must not understand the salary cap & contracts & stuff. How come they traded Jameer Nelson, and waived the player they got in return (Nate Robinson)? Why don't they just waive Jameer Nelson?

I believe Jameer has another year on his contract so if they were to have bought him out they would have to pay around 3 x more than what they have with Nate.
