If you really want to showcase the game, there needs to be a stiffer punishment than just missing the 1st game after the all star break. I guarantee if it becomes a 3-4 game ban, these stars with the "injuries" will miraculously be well enough to play in an exhibition game.

Really what bothers me the most about missing it is what it does to the fans. People pay a lot of money to go to the game, see the skills competition, and just be around the all star event all weekend. To have superstars like Crosby sit out because he has a bruise on his knee or something equally asinine is a slap in the face to any fan who want to see him play (either on tv or in person). Again, if you're really that hurt in which you have to miss the AS game, you better miss the next 3-4 just to make sure you are fully healthy.

Gretzky, Howe, Bourque, 60 selections combined, 60 appearances!!! Even Mario with all his injuries was 10 for 10. Seems it was a big honor back in the day, but not so much anymore.

It used to be an honor for players to be selected to the all-star game, Now it's more of a glorified dog and pony show to them that they have the option to play or not to play in.

I'll watch some of it, no big deal about who plays or does not play. To me at least. FB tonite, have no interest in that at all.
