(delivery confirmation)
The information I'm about to share with you hopefully will help out many members who want to be better informed about the knowledge of delivery confirmation from the Postal Service.Excuse the length.
Upon arriving at any given destination...parcels are then scanned as ARRIVED by a clerk. The system then automatically goes to the status "out for delivery" ten minutes after that point.Also...if you are expecting a DC item on a specific date and your postman has come and gone with no item on that day. Check the DC# again and if it still reads"out for delivery"...that hopefully means it arrived AFTER the carrier had left for the street. You should then receive the item the following day.Next....if you check a DC# and it says "undeliverable" that means 2 things....1) it was sorted to the wrong route and you'll get it the next day....or 2) it was sorted to the wrong route and had an error in the address label.Mislabled items are either never brought to the street or brought back from the street after a carrier has finished his route, depending on if he catches the error before he leaves for the street.Items mislabeled are normally sent back 1 or even 2 days later to the sender. With a little luck....if you call your post office as soon as you see"undeliverable",you might be able to save your item from being"returned to sender". Ask for a supervisor and state that you have an item in an"undeliverable" status.Ask if they can check the location where parcels are being sent back.Hopefully...it's there.
Below is an example of a parcel badly labeled coming from China that I miraculously saved by luck just checking the returned parcels section the following day, which I never saw seeing carriers in our office put mislabeled letters and parcels in a throwback case and then are handled by clerks afterwards.
